My Simply Be Wishlist

Hello fashionistas,

it's time to share my actual wishlist with you. This time I browse at SimplyBe and found so many nice clothes. Sadly hubs didn't win in the lottery this night. I must still be patient and can't buy all at once.

We are agreed that spring was … nothing that deseverd the name. Let's hope that summer will be better. All fingers crossed?

First I found a cute dress for a trip into the countryside on a sunny day.

A trip into the countryside

Second I must admit, that I mostly wear jeans, even at summer. So this is a set for a "not so hot" day at the city, eating icecream and rummage in air-conditioned bookshop (or whatever you like).

A day at the city

This was my first time I try polyvore and I added the items from the german Simply Be shop, but I added the links to the uk site.

What do you think? Would you wear one of those items? I think I would finally wear the dress with tights or leggins. Not brave enough to go out with bare legs at the moment.

OotD: Winona Hi-Lo Dress

Hello curvies,

today I will show you what I wore at my birthday on saturday. I was absolutly overdressed between my friends, but when I can't wear a beautiful dress at my birthday, when then?
This is my second dress from Kiyonna, the Winona Hi-Lo Wrap Dress. I love it more than the first one, which I already love.

The material is softer and – in my opinion – the cut fits better on my body and the neckline isn't as deep as at the black dress. At least the colour is awesome.

Only the shoulders concerns me a bit. They stick out, what looks a bit strange. Are my shoulders too wide?

What do you think about the dress? Do you have dresses from Kiyonna? And what is you favorite?

The 10 Day You Challenge #4

Hello lovelies,

today is my birthday and I'm stressed out by the prearrangement. Thereby I don't make a big party, just a nice evening with friends and family. I have the impression, that I make only barbecue stuff this week. First the birthday of my mum on tuesday and four days later mine. After this day we have quietness for one month. And than it begins again. First my dad and five days later hubs. The same procedure as every year.

Today I share part 4 from "The 10 Day You Challenge" with you:
7 Wants.

If you missed the first parts, you can find them here:
10 Secrets
9 Loves
8 Fears

1. Health
I know, this is something everybody wants, but I think that it has different meanings depending on whether you are healthy or not. I'll be healthy again. I'm suffering with my mental illness and the hence resulting physical problems since years. Everytime I make a step forward there is this time when I make 2 steps backwards. Every fall-back is like sticking in drift sand. The harder I try to get out of this state, the deeper I'm drawed in.
And it doesn't mean only health for myself. I wish my loves were healthy as well.

2. A car again
I'm simply more mobile with a car than with the public transport. I hate crowds in trams or busses. I hope, that we'll have a car again soon.

3. A biker jacket
Since a half year, I want such a jacket so bad. And know my wish comes true. I order one on monday at ASOS. Yeah! :)

4. Living in a little house
Sometimes I hope that hubs and I will live in a little house. With a small garden and in a better neighbourhood than yeat. This in more a dream than a want. *sigh*

5. Happyness
Another thing that everybody wants, but for me this is close-knit with that "health thing" above.

6. A baby
Ok … I share a lot of my personal stuff here on my blog and I'm not very withdrawn. But this will stay at this point for itself without further words. I think, I've readers who will understand why this stands for itself.

7. A new camera
I make my pictures for this blog with my old (very old) Canon Powershot A520 and you can see that it's not in his best condition. The product and food pictures a taken with my iPhone, just because the pictures are better than with my old digital cam. So one of the next things on my wishlist is a new camera.

I think in this list are the banal things mixed with the huge things. If someome would ask me: "Health or a car?" I would choose health. "Happyness or the biker jacket?" … sure the happyness. And "baby or camera?" … Sorry guys, you must life with the bad pictures.
But we all have that huge and small wishes. The banal ones and the elementary. Didn't we?

I wish you a great weekend. Enjoy it!

Recipe: Tomatoe-Feta-Pizza

Hello lovelies,

today I have another recipe for you and this time, it's not a cake again. Ok, I must admit that it is less a recipe than an inspiration for a main meal, because it is another "by guess and by gosh" recipe. It's one of my favorites, because I'm addicted to feta cheese and love it in combination with tomatoes.

First, you need a normal yeast dough. That can be a bought one or your favorite yeast dough recipe. If you don't have one, I'll share mine at the end of the post.

After your yeast dough is ready, prepare a pizza pan and preheat the oven at 180 °C, upper and lower heat. Dice 2–3 tomatoes (based on size) and ca. 60 g feta cheese. Place the dough in the pan and put the tomatoes and cheese on it. Put a handful pine nuts and some italian herbs on top. Bake it for 10–15 minutes.

Et voilá. Enjoy it.

I really love this meal and can't get enough of it. I must admit, that one pan is a bit too much for me, but it tastes just as good when it's cold, so I keep the rest for the next day.

As promised, here is my favorite yeast dough recipe:

Ingredients (for 2–3 pizza)
250 ml lukewarm water
460 g flour
42 g lump of yeast (they are normed in germany, that's why this odd number)
10 g salt
2 tbsp olive oil
1 pn sugar

Preparation
Put the flour in a bowl and squeeze a hole in the middle. Crumble the yeast into the hole and add the sugar and the salt. Pour the lukewarm water over the yeast carefully and let it rest for 10 minutes at a warm place.

Add the olive oil and knead until you have a smooth dough. Let it rest for another 30 minutes at a warm place (I put it into the bed under the blanket).

I hope, you'll like it.

Nails: Teal Glimmer Colour Gel

Hello Beauties,

I don't use nail polish very often. I make myself a gel manicure, because I have very thin and fragile nails. Most of the time, I use a colour gel.

At my favorite online shop "Pretty Nail Shop 24", where you find all you need for gel manicure, they have weekly promotions while they offer a colour gel for 1,90 Euro. This week it is a beautiful Neon Peach. Weren't there the shipping costs, I think I would buy a new colour gel every week. But while im trying not to spend so much money I only order it when I need some other stuff.

At my last order, I purchased this awesome colour: Teal Glimmer. Sadly the photo fails about it. Either it had a shade of blue or green. I tried all I could, but I didn't get it better than on this one. It's a teal with tend more to green than blue. After the curing process and the following sealing it appears saturated and bright on the nails.

My last order contained also a spot swirl and it is so easy to apply the gel with it accurate and opaque with one thin coat. Even on the right hand while you work with your left one. I think the most of you know the spot swirl already, but I had my first try a few weeks ago. I'm thrilled how easy the process is with this tool.

For me, as an absolute beginner, the gels from Jolifin are easy to use and the prices are fair. They ship worldwide, but sadly I didn't found an english website. Either I must be blind or you must know (a bit) german to browse through their site.

Natural nails or gel nails? What do you prefer?

Recipe: Lemon Cloud Cake

Hello lovelies,

I'm so sorry, I'm totally late with this post today. Hubs became a cleaning maniac and I was sitting here, feeling guilty. Then I cleaned the kitchen instead of writing this post. Now his cleaning maniac is over and I have the time to share this tasty cake recipe with you. Because today is World Baking Day!

My sister-in-law used a cake mix called "Zitronen Wolke (ger)" from Dr. Oetker a few times. It's an airy kind of lemon pound cake which is baked with cream instead of butter or margarine. And Hubs, not really a fan of cakes, loves it.
There is only one problem: I'm not a fan of cake mixes. That's why I start my own test kitchen and I found a recipe that is approximately to it.

Ingredients:
200 ml Cream
3 Eggs
200 g Sugar
100 g Flour
100 g Starch
Lemon zest (from 1 lemon)
2 Tbsp Lemon juice
15 g Baking Powder
1 pn Salt

Preparation:
  1. Preheat the oven to 170 ° C (upper and lower heat) and prepare the cake pan.
  2. Separate the eggs and beat the eggwhites until stiff. Put it aside, you'll need it later.
  3. Mix the egg yolk with the sugar until it's quite light. Then mix the cream in.
  4. Mix the dry ingredients together and stir it in the egg-cream-mix.
  5. Fold in the beaten egg whites.
  6. Bake it ca. 45–50 min. Use a wooden tooth pick to controll it. Prick in the middle of the cake. When there's no cake left on the tooth pick, you can take it out of the oven.
  7. Let the cake cool down and sprinkle it with sugar powder before serving.

It's a simple, tasty and versatile cake. I'll try the following variants: chocolate, marble and a cocktail one: Tequila Sunrise. Simply change the lemon ingredients with chocolate, orange or something else. Some ideas for more variants?

Enjoy it.

The 10 Day You Challenge #3

Hello lovelies,

it's time for the third part of the challenge: 8 Fears. I have many fears … more than eight. I'm affected by anxiety states and become panik attack from things, that are "normal" for many people.

In case that you missed the first 2 parts, here they are:
ten secrets
nine loves

1. Spiders
I'm arachnophobic. And I can't absolutly take a joke about this. They make me sream like a little girl. The bigger, the louder.

2. Roller skates
I broke my arm at the age of 8 while roller skating. Since this time (28 years now) I never try it again.

3. Getting really ill
I don't mean a cold. I mean something like cancer or multiple sclerosis or something like that. I immediately assume the worst. And this results in physical pains, which makes the fear bigger … It's a vicious circle.

4. Being alone at night
One should think that a big girl like me can stay alone at night. No, I can't. As well as I have a huge dog. But he is more afraid than I. My huge dog is a wimp and wouldn't help me to stay tough if hubby were not at home at night.

5. Crowds
I hate too much people on one spot. Really. It makes me nervous and anxious. Nevertheless I'll visit the "Hessentag" next month which is held in my town this year. Keep your fingers cross that I'll survive that day.

6. Hospital
There are only a few people who like it to go to the hospital. My mum, for example. But I'm really afraid of it. I had a surgery last year in june and the days before were a torture. But I was lucky with the hospital choice. The nursing stuff and my surgeon were so lovely. They took a bit from my fear.

7. Dentist
I'm a sissy when I'm sitting on this chair and hear the noise of the dental drill from the next room. I found a really nice dentist which made my visits a bit acceptable. Not only because of his beautiful blue eyes.

8. Dead
Whatever … my one, hubs, dad or my dog. I think the dead afraid the most of us.

OotD: the "not sure dress"

Hello lovelies,

do you remember my last post about my bonprix haul? I didn't send the three items back yet, because of the "not sure dress". That's why I use Whitsun to hear what you think about it. I combine it with some black leggins and one with a black belt and then with a black cardi. And I'm still not sure. But I'm more on the "give it a chance site".

versus

Dress: Bonprix | Leggins: Ulla Popken | Shoes: Evans
Belt: Bonprix | Cardi: Ulla Popken

So … it's your turn. What do you think about the dress. I think, I begin to like it. Should I keep it?

Fa(t)shion: My bonprix haul in may

Hello curvies,

another bonprix post. No, they don't sponsor me (I should be so lucky). I simply order most of my clothes there. It became my favorite german plus size shop over the years, even if there are a few critic points left. One of them is: plus size didn't end at EU50! And some of the materials aren't very complimentary for fat girls.
I like the price performance ratio, the free returns, the method of payment and the service.

While I rummage through the online shop, I found a few nice pieces and couldn't left my hands of it. This rummage results in a nice little haul which arrived today. My instagram follower may already know what happend then.

1. Butterfly print top / Fledermausshirt
2. Peep-toe pumps / Ballerina weiß
3. High heels print tee / Shirt Halbarm
4. Comfort stretch trousers * / Bequeme Hose mit geradem Bein
5. Geometric print wrap dress / Kurzärmeliges Kleid mit Wickeloptik
6. Jersey skater dress / Shirt-Kleid

* It seems that the new colours sadly haven't arrived in UK yet.

1–3 will take place in my closet. Love both of the tees and the shoes are gorgeous. Comfortable, airy and looking good. And they are the reminder that it is time to take care of my toe nails, which I'm treat very stepmotherly during this long winter.

4–5 will go back . The dress isn't really flattering for bigger sizes. The material is snuggling with every roll I have and that looks awful. I love the colour and the print and maybe it had could be my dress if it were made of another material.
The trousers would stay in my closet as well if there weren't the issue with the broken zipper. Maybe it'll take place in a further order again. Not willing to pay shipping costs again for one trouser.

6 is the "not sure" dress. I have the impression it looks a bit like an old apron dress on me. Like the one my gran wore the whole day.  I think, I'll send it back too. I'm not really comfortable with dresses yet and just make little steps forward. I should only buy dresses I feel really good while try it on at the moment.

The next piece in my wardrobe will be from sheego. It is the jacket from my wishlist at the end of march. It's my birthday gift from hubby now I must wait until it'll arrive in two weeks (or three). I - will - have - it - NOW! I'm so unpatient. One of my bad characteristics.

What's next in your closet?

Recipe: Little Cocos Slices

Hello cake lovers,

today is "Father's Day" and while my dad don't like this day (the extreme opposite of my mum) I make every year a little something for him. This year it was the little cocos slices. I must admit that my dad is diabetic and in fact he shouldn't eat much sweets. But I think, if it don't kill you instant you should be allowed to treat yourself 2–3 times a year. And I almost prefer to bake him the treats by myself, because I'm able to reduce or exchange the sugar.

They look so delicious, didn't they? You get the original recipe, which is a real sugar bomb … and so unbelievable yummy.

What you need (for ca. 12 pieces)

For the dough:
50 g butter
250 g sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla sugar
300 g flour
3 tsp baking powder
a lacing of rum

For the chocolate cream:
300 g sugar
200 g baking chocolate
200 ml milk
200 g butter
desiccated coconut

Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 180° C (350° F).

For the dough cream togheter the butter, sugar (incl. vanilla sugar) and eggs. Mix the flour with the baking powder and fold them into the creamy mass. Add the milk.
Bake the dough in a squared baking pan for 18–20 minutes. Let the cake cool down in the pan.

For the cream boil up the sugar, baking chocolate and milk. Remove the pot from the stove. When the mass has become room temperature add the butter and mix it together.

Now slice the cake into small pieces and roll them first into the chocolate cream and then into the desiccated coconut. Put them in a cool place until you serve them.

What are your little treats you give away on special days?

Oh … by the way … on 19th May is World Baking Day. And there is a huge recipe collection. Will you participate and bake something? Let me know.

The 10 Day You Challenge #2

Hello lovelies,

today is the 1st of May and this means that "my month" begins. May is my birthday month (more precisely I have 25 days left … with today count in), the strawberry season begins and it's the "springest" spring month. Oh … and it has a few bank holidays what means that I have more time with my hubby.

And thats why I'll present you the second part of the "10 Day You Challenge". If you missed the first part, you'll find it here.

Let's go … 9 loves.

1. Dogs
I'm an absolute dog loving person. In germany we call it "Hundemensch". I'm sort of that people which will change the site of the street when people walk by from the other site. On the other hand I'll pet every dog I see. Sounds weird? It is. But I've learned that a dog is honest and (most? some?) people aren't. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a misantrophe, but I was cheated once to often.

2. Spring
I love spring. The first sunbeams, the smell of your skin after they touches it. Nature awakes and I love the smells and noises. And it is'nt too hot. Spring has the accurate temperature I feel comfortable with. And I'm born in may so … spring is my season, closely followed by fall.

3. Gummybears
This is'nt something I must write a novelle about. I'm simply addicted to gummybears.

4. Cheesecake
If you want this little girl over here happy bring her a cheesecake. I love cheesecake. I'm addicted to it. I could take a bath in it (does this adage exist in english? "I could take a bath in something"). Shortly: I love love love love cheesecake.

5. Caipirinha
My favorite cocktail. Nom nom …

6. Plush Toys
I still love plush toys and have a lovely bear in my bed (beside hubby). And a big one in my bedroom. A few ones of my closet and much more safetly packed in the basement. I simply haven't the space for all of them.

7. Baking with my niece
She has much to learn for the college at the moment, so we don't have much time to bake together. But we love to create new cupcakes.

8. TV Series
So … this is one of my hugest hobbyhorse. I watch(ed) Star Trek, Doctor Who, Gilmore Girls, Fringe, The Vampire Diarys, Warehouse 13, Sanctuary, Smallville, The Nanny, Sherlock, Torchwood, Stargate, Sex and the City, Lost Girl, Haven, Buffy, Angel, True Blood, … and so on. Sometimes I watch 10 series at the same time. It's an obsession.

9. Alan Rickman
He is my favorite actor. Hubby calls it an obsession, but I simply love how he act. I watched almost every movie with him. And he's like a good wine … the older, the better. And … in my opinion … he don't look that bad for a man in his sixties.
He's closely followed by Patrick Steward. I have a liking for old british actors.
My favorite female actress, by the way, is Emma Thompson. And there isn't anything better than Alan and Emma in one movie. Sadly the couples in "Sense and Sensebility" wasn't lucky chosen. Alan matched better with Emma then Kate.

This was "9 loves", the second part of the "10 Day You Challenge". I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing.

Love, Mel … xoxo
