The 10 Day You Challenge #9

Hello lovelies,

how was saturday? Mine was stressful but great. Met some lovely friends I didn't see for a few month and celebrated hubs birthday. Was a nice day / evening. But too short. I have a little hangover but it was worth it.

So … this time the topic of the challenge is: "2 Songs". It's the last but one and it get's more difficult every time. Picking only two songs isn't easy, because music goes along with me my whole live and there are so many songs I associate with special moments or feelings in my live. That's why choosing the songs for this part is the same as having a closet full of nothing to wear

1. Faithless – Insomnia
This song is something like a hymn for me these days. It's not my usual genre, but I love this song since I've heard it the first time, a decade ago. But only the "Radio Mix".

2. Warren G – Regulate
I choosed this song as the representative for my love for hip-hop and r&b in the 90s.

There is so much more I love, because I have no precise taste of music. I hear what I like in THIS moment. I avoid only four genres: heavy metal, techno, german schlager and alpine folk music. Apart from that: everything my ears like is played.

Do you have a song that goes along with you (nearly) your whole life? I'm curious which song that is.

Love, Mel … xoxo

OotD: Butterflies

Hello curvies,

I don't know how long I lurk around this tee at bonprix. After all, I'm so happy that I bought it. The colour is so beautiful and also the print. Butterflies meets leopard. So cute. Plus I love bat sleeves.

The material is 95% viscose and 5% elastane. It feels soft, not raspy. Altogether it has a great wearing comfort.

The lower part of the tee snuggles on your hips. In case you don't like it, that tee is sadly nothing for you.

tee: bonprix | trousers: evans | shoes: evans

Lovely colour, cute print and a great wearing comfort. Result: This tee could be my new favorite in my wardrobe. I love it and plan to buy another one in black. And maybe the aqua one without print.

What do you think about the tee. What's your favorite piece of clothes in your wardrobe at the moment?

The 10 Day You Challenge #8

Hello lovelies,

sorry for being late with the 8th part of "The 10 Day You Challenge". The hot days last week and the following sudden change of weather knocked me out. I felt sick and slept nearly the whole weekend. And there is so much work waiting for me. Tomorrow is the birthday of my dad. Busy start of the week. :)

But enough of that moaning, let's start with the topic of the 8th part: 3 Films! I must admit, that three films is just as difficult as it was for the books. I love many movies, even if I'm more a "serie junkie". After all I made a decision and picked three films I love.

1. Everything Is Illuminated
A wonderful movie about Jonathan Foer, a young jew, who is searching for his roots. He traveled to ukrainia to find the woman, which saved his grandfather from the Holocaust.
I love Elijah Wood in the role of Jonathan. And the story is so beautiful. I wont spoiler, so I only say this: I cried like a baby at the end of the movie. It's so touching.

2. The Butterfly Effect
If you change only one little thing in the history, what consequences will that change have. A movie about love combined with the possibility to change the past.
I love movies where is nothing at it seems. Movies which force your brain. I must admit, that "Donnie Darco" has overstrained me.

3. Kill Bill
Just because I love Quentin Tarantino and all of his movies.

These are 3 of my favorite movies. I decided to ignore the blockbuster like "Harry Potter", "Lord of the Rings", "Pirates of the Caribbean" and (acutally" "The Hobbit". Oh … and every movie Alan Rickman is starring. He's the love of my life. ;)

I'm curious … what's your favorite movie(s)?

And my love goes to … #3

But enough of the weather. Let's see, what I found this week. :)

♥ Love these guys ♥

OotD: Provocation

Hello fashionistas,

today I recycle an outfit I've posted in a similar way before. In fact I planned another outfit for today, but sometimes spontaneous actions are necessary. And there is a reason that I look a bit snootily on this photo.

Let me tell you, why I change the post for today. Yesterday, my mum called me with the "good" news that my uncle and my aunt will visit them today. And when you live in the same house, you can't avoid to say "Hello". Don't get me wrong. I love my uncle and my aunt, but my aunt has every time we meet one huge topic: My weight.

"You can be chubby, but not that fat."
"What's happend? You looked so beautiful, when you was thin." (*)
"Did you gain weight again?"

* "Maybe I was beautiful when I was thin. But now I'm fucking awesome? Why? Because I've accepted my body the way he is and love him." … Sadly that time I didn't answer that way.

And that's the reason, why I decided to wear my "Killer Curves" tee today with my fat necklace.

I didn't see her for 1,5 years. Let's see what she will ask first. Why I'm so fat or how my surgery last year went.

Do you have also those relatives who always reduce you to your weight and haven't another topic when you meet them?

Love, Mel … xoxo

The 10 Day You Challenge #7

Hello lovelies,

today I share the 4th part of the challenge with you: 4 books.

Missed the first parts? No problem, here they are.
ten secrets
nine loves
eight fears
seven wants
six places
five foods

This isn't an easy one for me. I rather shared 9 books and 4 loves or 8 books and 4 fears, but only 4 books? Oi! I decided to leave some huge and famous books and book series out, like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Both series are my alltime favorites. I will love them forever.

I'm a huge fan of fantasy literature. I rarely read other genres. However, acutally I read series like "The Hunger Games". I love the story. If you saw the movie and liked it, read the books. It's an incredible deep story and there is more than one scene for tears and goosebumps. But I anticipate my 4 books. I can talk a lot about books, if you don't notice it yet. ;)

1. War of the Spider Queen
Maybe this sounds ridiculous, because of my arachnophobia. And in fact, there are a some parts in the books where I switch off my imagination. But the whole story about the society of dark elves, where are woman in authority and the divinity a huge spider called Lolth, is great.

2. Green Rider Series
Karigan, daughter of a merchants, left school and is walking home, while she found a green rider, messenger of the king, with a black arrow in his back. He pleas her to deliver the message to the king. At the moment, she accepted the adventures begin.
A wonderful serie about a young woman, a king, love, fear and a bad enemy behind a wall.

3. Old Kingdom
Another fantasy serie. A good friend lent me the first part "Sabriel", because he thought I would like it. And he was right.
Two worlds, separate by a wall. The first one is like ours in the middle of the last century. The second one with magic and an old kingdom. In the first book, Sabriel went to school on the first side when her father calls her (through) magic. Because he is missed and she should search him. She goes on the other side of the wall and meet new friends and huge risks.
It really worth reading if you like the fantasy genre. I'm totally in love with this serie and (*pssst* I tell you a secret) cried like a baby at the end of the third book.

4. Maze Runner
It's the first part of an sience fiction trilogy by James Dashner. If you liked the hunger games, you will like this story as well.
I must admit, that the beginning of the book is a bit "bumpy" and I have the impression, that the author will explain too much. It would work without it. But when the story goes on it catches you. After the bumpy beginning I've read the first one in one night.
I hope, the 2nd and 3rd part is as good as the first one.

That wasn't all books I love. Four … four aren't enough. :)

What's about you? Are you a bookworm as well? What's you favorite genre and book actually?

Love, Mel … xoxo

Cocktail of the Month:
Tequila Sunrise

Hello lovelies,

finally, summer has arrived. It's time for barbecues and nice little garden parties. And it's time for Tequila Sunrise. So I make it my first "Cocktail of the Month".

4 cl Tequila
15 cl Orange Juice
1 cl Grenadine

Put the ice cubes in the glas, add the tequila and fill up with orange juice. At last add the grenadine carefully. Don't stir.

Enjoy it!
What's your favorite cocktail at the moment?

My beauty haul in june

Hello lovelies,

last week I went to the city to buy some beauty stuff at the grocery store. This is what came out.

Pure Skin 30+ from Rival de Loop*
Cleansing gel, facial tonic, fruit acid exfoliation scrub and 24h creme.

I sadly have an oily and bad skin. I decided to try those skincare range of products. Keep your fingers cross.

Perfect Face from P2**
Oil control base and finish powder for a fresh skin (with green particle to cover redness).

Especially in summer I have the problem, that make up don't stay very long because of my oily skin. I found the base from P2. I need to refresh the powder after 2–3 hours, but it is a lot better than without.
The powder does exactly what it should: It gives me a fresh skin with less redness.

BB Cream from Garnier
I read a lot about bb creams the last weeks and decided to try the one from garnier. I use it since one week now. I didn't realise huge changes at my skin yet but I love how fresh my face looks without make up. Huge impurities need a extra coverage, but I hope that they will be a thing of the past soon.

Mascara, nail polish and a lip stick from P2**
Just a few make up stuff you always need. ;)

floral grunge eyeshadow from Essence
Nay … tried it out on monday and don't like it. The pigmentation isn't really good. The light green and grey from this palette are ok, but the rest is rarely visible. I'll write an extra post about the eyeshadow.

Some accessoiries from for your beauty*
A cleaning brush, an eyeshadow pencil and toe separators.

(* "Rival de Loop" and "for your beauty" are private labels from Rossmann)
(** "P2" are the private make up label from DM)

Do you have some new products you try out at the moment? I'm looking for a soft make up remover for my bad skin.

Love, Mel … xoxo

Nails: Pink Glam Gel

Hello lovelies,

today I'll show you my last gel polish capture: The pink glam gel. Pink is acutally one of my favorite colours (next to teal and green), so the weekly offer two weeks ago came in handy.

Like the teal glimmer gel a few weeks ago, this is so easy to apply with the spot swirl and looks gorgeous. I love the glimmer particles which gives the gel a beautiful golden shimmer.

Don't be confused. The colours came in another container, when it is the weekly offer. This week, Pretty Nail Shop have a fantastic red, a neon green and a pink one in the weekly offer. And the four shades of the summer collection are so beautiful, especially the blue one. But I have my rules: One order per month. Life isn't fair. ;)

What's your favorite nail colour at the moment?

OotD: Heel Tee

Hello fashionistas,

when I saw this tee at Bonprix the first time, I wasn't sure if I like it or not. The decission to give it a chance and order it was a good one. Since the first time I wore it I love it.

I had the fear, that the "lace tights" in the middle would look a bit weird across my boobs. An issue I often have, when something isn't only print on a shirt. The lace part isn't stiff, so it floating quite well.

On the contra side are the little gems at the heels. I already lost two after one wash. You see the glue and they didn't hold good on the fabric. Maybe I'll do a bit DIY and sew some beads on, when it looks to awkward.

Exept the gems, the tee has a neat workmanship. It's available in a light pink, pink and white. I love sated colours, so I bought the pink one.

What do you think about tees? Yea or nay?

Wish you all a great start in the new week.

7 Ways to use lemon for your beauty

Good evening beauties,

I have another beauty gem right from the kitchen for you: The lemon. This yellow fruit is a true "beauty bomb". It refreshs your skin, whiten your nails and rough skin soft.

1. Freshness in your bath tub

Slice 500 g lemons, souse them with hot water and brew it for 1 hour. After that hour give the brew with the slices into your bath water.

2. For a quick refresh or a soft peeling alternative
Just take a slice of a lemon and rub it over your face. The fruit acid frees your skin from dead cells and helps to refresh and tone it. And a extra bonus: The smell of the lemon has a positive effect on your mood.

3. As a face mask
For dry skin: Mix 2 tbsp lemon juice with 2 tbsp honey to a paste and apply it on your face. Rinse after 15 minutes with warm water.
For oily skin: Mix 2 tbsp lemon juice with 2 tbsp papaya mash and apply it on your face. Rinse after 15 minutes with warm water.

4. A weapon against dandruffs
Rub 1 tbsp lemon juice into your dry hair. Shampoo it as usual. Now apply a mix of 2 cups of water and 2 cups of lemon juice on your wet hair and rinse again. Repeat this every other day for one week.

5. Toning skin cleaner
Beat the white of one large egg and stir in 1,5 tbsp lemon juice. Apply the mixture on your face for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

6. Whiten your nails
Simply rub a slice of lemon over your nails.

7. Lemon hand scrub
Mix 2,5 cups sugar, 1 cup olive oil and 1 tbsp lemon juice and put it in a jar. Now you have your personal hand scrub. Stir it again before usage, if the sugar is on the bottom of the jar.

And now, I allow myself a tequila. All this tattle about lemons … cheers. *yummy*

How to Be a Fat Bitch – #2

Hello lovelies,

it's a bit distressing. I start with the first part of that eCourse in march. And now we have june. When did this happend? I'm ashamed. Ok, let's forget that and go on as usual. Have I mentioned that I'm ashamed?

How to be a Fat Bitch ecourse

The second part of the eCourse is: Reclaiming the word fat

Reclaim the word fat and do something amazing with it. Make art, take photos of yourself with fat written on you, bake a cake with fat written in frosting, etc.

I wracked my brain long about this. Finally I made this pendant a few weeks ago with shrink plastic. In the beginning it was just black but I put some confetti nail polish on top to make it sparkle. I'm still not sure if it finally becomes a necklace, bracelet or brooche. Or just a pendant, so I can wear it however I want it.

What do you love most about the word fat?
For me, fat is part of the description of a movement to gain more acceptance as a fat woman (or man) in this society. And if you stop to take it negative, it is powerful.

How has the word fat evolved for you?
It changed from a negative, hurting word to a describing and – in alliance with the fat acceptence movement – a powerful word. Describing like: I've red hair, freckles, pale skin, blue eyes and … I'm fat. Powerful, because I must think about all those great, beautiful and powerful woman out there, which shows us day by day how beautiful a fatty can be.
