And my love goes to … #13

Hello lovelies,

this issue has my favourite number. I'm not superstitious and I also don't believe in astrology. But I believe, that there is more between heaven and earth than we know yet. And also that there is something out there in the vastness of the universe. I mean, this cuteness isn't from this world.

I was there:
Bergpark Wilhelmshoehe

Hello lovelies,

I've got the blues … the blogger blues. I think, this is something every blogger goes through.

For today I have a special personal post. In my "10 Day You Challenge", I already showed a few picture of one of my favourite places in the world. The Bergpark Wilhelmshoehe in Kassel. I can't count how often I walked through this park. It is the largest hillside park in europe and the second largest on a mountain slope worldwide.
Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe is a unique landscape park in Kassel, Germany. Art historian Georg Dehio (1850–1932), inspirator of the modern discipline of historic preservation, described the park as "possibly the most grandiose combination of landscape and architecture that the Baroque dared anywhere" ("vielleicht das Grandioseste, was irgendwo der Barock in Verbindung von Architektur und Landschaft gewagt hat.").[1]
The area of the park is 2.4 square kilometres (590 acres), making it the largest European hillside park, and second largest park on a mountain slope in the world. Construction of the Bergpark, or "mountain park", began in 1696 at the behest of the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel and took about 150 years.

There was a time at the early stages of this millennium I visited it nearly every weekend with my ex-husband. Until the day he told me that I should stop taking pictures every five minutes, because it bored him. (There is a reason, he's my ex-husband.)

From may until october, every sunday and wednesday, there is an event called »Wasserspiele« (water feature in english).
Every time about 350.000 liters (92,000 gallons) of water are needed and visitors can follow the water's way starting from the Hercules monument and ending at the big lake of the castle Wilhelmshöhe. The water runs down the cascades, the Steinhöfer's waterfall, the devil's bridge, until it tumbles down the aqueduct before finally arriving at the lake of the castle where a fountain of about 50 meters ends the spectacle.

Every first saturday from june until september, you can attend a special lighted version of this event. Different colours illuminate the waterfalls and fountains. It's beautiful. One day I'll have a good camera and a tripod to take pictures of this beautiful spectacle.

Last year in september, I visited the park with a good friend of mine. He lives near Kassel and haven't seen the water feature or other parts of the park than the Hercules monument. What a pity. So I took him with me, we saw the water feature and did some geocaching. This year, I'll show him the »Loewenburg« … another great building from the past. But this will take place in another post.

If you should end up in Kassel for some weird reason (if you interested in art, Kassel is hosting the documenta every five years), you should visit the park. It's definitely worth a visit.

OotD: Urban Legends #1

Hello lovelies,

you all know those urban legends about what a fat girl cannot wear. One of those things are stripes. More precisely: horizontal stripes. I think this first-class fashion advice means that horizontal stripes let us look bigger, because it guides the eye in the width. This must mean in reverse that vertical stripes let us look thin. But … who cares? Five pounds more or less doesn't make a difference. I'm fat. And I'm wearing stripes. Horizontal stripes. End of story.

Skinny jeans and jumper: ASOS Curve | Shoes: Zalando

Is there one of those urban legends you followed in the past? If yes, what was the trigger to say »stop« to it and do it?

I wish you a wonderful week.

How to be a fat bitch #4

Hello lovelies,

it's time for next part of the great eCourse from The Nearsighted Owl. Todays topic is: See beauty in other fat bodies.

How to be a Fat Bitch ecourse

Assignment
Create a tribute to a fat body. Your fat body or somebody else's. Make a papier mache figure, draw a silhouette photograph your rolls, curate a collection of images of bodies similar to yours, etc.

This is really easy for me, because I do this since nearly 1 year, more precisely since october 2012, with my own tumblr blog, my body positive space. A short time after that I discovered Pinterest. Since then I have my +size boards, where I share my inspirations. The newest one is the +size blogger styles.

Those boards are my way to tribute all the great (fat) bodies out there. Those ladies are a huge part on my way to more confidence.

Discussion
How has seeing fat bodies in the media affected you? Like Adele, Gabourey Sidibe, Aidy Bryant from SNL, Beth Ditto, Melissa McCarthy, etc. Do you gravitate towards fat positive music, TV and movies?

I must say, that those women didn't affect me much. But I remember, that one of the first blogs I discovered last year was Gabifresh.com. And I won't forget was she wrote in her F.A.Q. about getting the confidence she have.
Firstly, be more selective with your media intake. Stop reading tabloids and other magazines that are filled with judgment and body talk. Instead, fill up on body positive blogs and websites dedicated to illustrating bodies of all shapes and sizes. Join tumblr and follow people who have bodies that look like yours. Stop judging other women--challenge yourself to think positively about others, once you accomplish that, you will stop being so harsh on yourself too. Don’t participate when friends or colleagues make fun of another woman’s body, celebrity or otherwise. Do not participate in diet talk. Wear clothes that you feel good in and that express your personality. Pamper yourself with a spa day. Take a long bath, read a good book, and focus on being grateful for all the absolutely amazing things your body is able to do. Many people aren’t so lucky! Remember that cultivating your inner beauty is so much more important than anything you can buy at a store or any number on a scale.
Source

This advice is one of the most important ones I got in my whole live. It helps me a lot and let me find other amazing women all around the world who trying to achieve confidence (or already have it). A great community I really love and won't miss again in my live.

Thanks to Kaye, Nikki, Ella, Sabina, Leah, Becky and Becky, Rachel and Vicky … who are representative for a lot of amazing women world wide, which shows us how to embrace our curves. Love you, ladies ♡

Maite Kelly Collection at Bonprix

Hello lovelies,

recently Bonprix launched the new Maite Kelly Collection at the german shop very quiet. It seems that there was no announcement and in the »press« section is no lookbook available. Without Bine and Steffi I would have no idea that there is a new collection. Sadly, some items are already sold, but I hope they will be in stock soon.

I like a few pieces of the collection even if I have the impression that it drag behind a bit, especially when I look at the colour block dress, shirt and trouser.

I love the neon patches at the elbow parts of the sweater and also stripe shirts, when others wearing them. Maybe I should give this one a go.

The jumper is definitely mine. Looks so comfy, we'll se if it is. Nothing new is the heart on the front. I think, I saw a similar one at ASOS. But it's so lovely.

So, this is one item out of the colour block set, which included a trouser, a dress and this top. And the long top on the right looks so amazing, when you wear it underneath a shorter jumper. Like the way how they styled it at the overview page. Must have it, best in all three colours.

This was my tiny overview from the new Maite Kelly collection at Bonprix. I have no idea why they launched it so quietly. I think it's a lovely collection with some nice items. What do you think? Would you by something of the collection, when it is available in your country?

Recipe: Tomato-Chicken-Wrap

Hello lovelies,

let's talk about the latest heatwave. We had 35° C among the shades. It was so *peep* hot inside and outside. I don't like heat. Rather cold with sunshine. But during summer I feel like an alien. If you don't like summer, people look at you like you are from another planet. Some kind of ice planet. Maybe I'm from Krypton.

I won't rant about those nice pieces of advice like "You should loose weight, then you don't sweat like this. This is a topic for an own blog post.

Today, the question is: What do you eat during a heatwave? I ate four things: fruits, salad, ice cream and wraps. And my favourite wraps are made with cream cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and grilled chicken.

It's easy, fast and – important – it's a cold dish.

You need (for 2 wraps):
  • 2 tortillas
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • some lettuce
  • 1 diced tomato
  • 50 g grilled chicken

Just put it all together beginning with the cream cheese, than the lettuce, tomatoes and chicken, roll it and enjoy it.

What was your favourite dish during the heatwave? Did you cook? Or do you prefer cold meals? Share your ideas in the comments. I'm curious. :)

Summer Chill – Music Mix

Hello lovelies,

the last two month I presented you one of my fave albums on spotify. This month, it's a bit different. Same stage, but a playlist instead of an album.

I stumbled across this playlist from spotify user Tunigo and I love it. It contains 65 tracks, the right music for relaxing after a hot summer day. And we had of them in the last weeks, hadn't we? It's a bit sad, that know the weather gone cold and rainy again. But the songs on the playlist will also work while you are taking a hot (bubble)bath.

I hope, you enjoy it! I like this kind of music when I'm in that crazy – weird – anxious mood to come down a bit.

OotD: into the blue

Hello lovelies,

today I have the (temporary) last dress from my ASOS sale haul. It's a lovely (faux) wrap dress in navy blue. I was really surprised how good the colour suits me and how good it goes with my hair colour. The material is a soft and stretchy jersey (95% cotton, 5% elastane). The workmanship leaves a first-class impression, but until now it's nothing uncommon for me from ASOS.
Sadly the navy one is sold out, but I have an eye on the berry one. ♡

I feel better and more confident in dresses from day to day. I own three dresses and one skirt from ASOS Curve so far and I'm totally obsessed by the brand. Can't wait for my next ASOS parcel … whatever I will buy. :)

Do you remember about your first experience with ASOS? Tell me about it. :)

Spread the Love #2
Curvy Life (DE/EN)

Hello lovelies,

it's time to spread some summer blogger love. There are so many great blogs out there in the blogosphere. Not only the great and fame ones, sometimes the small ones have their own pretty charm. That's why I decided to pic one blog out of my favourites and spread some love once a month.

I bracketed the languages of the blog behind the title.

This month it catches the lovely Jenny from »Curvy Life«. I must not admit, that I love her style, because I wouldn't read her blog if I didn't do it. But she has something in her styles that makes her special. Maybe it's this denim thing. Or those hat in her last post. The awesome denim vest she made. She is an absolute great fan of denim and shows it. Something you didn't find so much in the plus size fashion blogosphere (in my opinion).

I hope you will like her blog as much as I do. Do you have a special blogger you would like to share? Leave a comment and tell me about it. :)

But I won't jumping ahead, I'll write a review about a few items of this haul.

Which special item was included in your last grocery beauty haul?

Wishlist 08/13

Hello lovelies,

girls have wishes. Many wishes. We love beautiful stuff, that's a fact. And, to be honest, the internet is a plague. We can sit at home in front of the television and we can watch tv and browse through shops at the same time. Or reading blogs in which we find great news about our passion fashion or beauty … or both.

So it happend that I stumbled over a new Limited Edition from Catrice, that will be available at the end of August. It contains so beautiful colours for fall. I must have it. And I fall in love with an M·A·C lipstick after an eulogy from Mrs Dalda. But long story short …

Catrice Eyeshadow Bed of Flowers and Beauty Bouquet
Catrice Powder Kajal Floralilac
Catrice Lip and Cheek Cream Bed of Flowers
M·A·C Lipstick New York Apple

Via Appia Due Shirt | ASOS Curve Jeans | Tamaris Flats
SimplyBe Dress | ASOS Curve Jumper

mint LIP Necklace | Pieces GLACE Necklace
Pilgrim Earrings Stars | ZEEme Earrings Wings

Time will show which of these things will move into my home and which will not. Do you have one piece you must definitly have?

With time you'll find out that my taste of music is not specific. I like what I like, whatever the genre is.

Do you have a song or an album at the moment, which you can listen to the whole day? I love to discover new bands and songs.

Liebster Award

Hey guys,

the lovely Georgina from she might be loved has nominated my blog for the liebster award. I reached 50 follower this week (like Georgina when she did that post … fortune?), so I decided to give it a go and do another personal post this weekend.

These are the rules:
  • You must answer the 11 questions that are asked by the blogger that tagged you
  • Tag other bloggers with less than 200 followers
  • Create 11 questions for them to answer
  • Notify the bloggers that you have tagged them for the Liebster Award
  • The bloggers must then do the same and include a link to the blog of the person that tagged them

So … let's start …

1. What is the most surprising product you have ever used?
This is a hard question. I don't remember a product that swept me off my feet. After a while I spent with think about it, I would choose my shampoo. I've tried so many different products, because I have strained and dry hair. And then I washed my hair with hubs shampoo, because mine was empty. It was the simple "Schauma" from "Schwarzkopf" which I use since this time (the repair and care series).

2. If you could afford any high end product you wanted, what would you buy?
Actually it's the lipstick "New York Apple" from MAC. Love the colour.

3. Have you ever tried to make your own product? Like a facemask or hair mask?
I made my own lip balm, hair mask, body scrub and a cinnamon face mask.

4. Which makeup crime do you hate the most?
Over blushed cheeks and those lashes who looks like they have 30 layers of mascara on.

5. Most disappointing product?
Another shampoo story. Actually I try the repair and care serie from Pantene ProV, because I've won them at a competition from the german grocery store DM. This won't be a rebuy". I switch back to my Schauma products, when they are empty.

6. Do you cleanse, tone, and moisturise every single night?
Yes. I have this very flawed and oily skin, that needs regulary care.

7. Do you have a makeup inspiration, like a celebrity?
A lot of great german beauty bloggers.

8. When did you start wearing makeup?
At the age of 14. I haven't somebody who teached me wearing make up. I'm so happy that there are less pictures from this time. I think, I've looked like a clown.

9. Do you ever have days where you'll go out without makeup?
No ways. I have days where I hide at home without make up. But go out … no way.

10. Do you have a special hair care routine?
I don't know if I could name this a special routine. I wash them all 2 or 3 days and use a hair mask once a week. When I blow dry them or use a hair straightener, I apply a heat protection. Nothing else.

11. How long does it take you to get ready?
If I don't do my hair (that means I wear a ponytail) I need 30 minutes. Another 15–30 minutes when my hair are involved.

My questions are:
1. When did you first get into fashion or beauty?
2. What is your best childhood memory?
3. Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?
4. If you were stranded on a desert island, which person would you have with you (only 1)?
5. What's your favourite food?
6. What's your favourite beverage?
7. What's your favourite song of all the time?
8. Why have you started blogging?
9. What was the worst product you've ever bought?
10. How would you describe yourself if you have only one word?
11. What's your favourite season?

Tagging someone is a hard job, because the most blogs I follow have done this award before. So … I would say: if you weren't nominated for this award in the past and you are up for it, go for it! Leave me a comment so I can tag you retroactive. And of course I'm very nosy about your answers. :)
